Poecilotheria Metallica breeding project

One of the most rewarding aspects of pet-keeping is to witness your pets progeny. The Poecilotheria Metallica is considered to be the “Holy-Grail” of Tarantula keeping. It’s majestic royal blue color and  stunning yellow warning lines will leave any enthusiast in awe. Quick, deadly, and beautiful is how I would describe this Tarantula Specie.

I started off in the hobby with a few New World Tarantula’s. New worlds are slow moving and slow growing with tendencies to spend most of their lives either digging or hidden in their caves. Hence the nickname “Pet rocks”. Although they’re gorgeous and interesting in their own right, none of them can compare to the mystique that Poecilotheria species bring to the hobby, and in my honest opinion, the P. Metallica is the best that the specie has to offer.

PROS:

   Hardy
   Easy to keep
   Stunningly gorgeous
   Sexually dimorphic once matured
   Can be kept communally
   Easier to breed compared to other Tarantulas

CONS:

   High venom potency
   Teleporters - Lightning quick
   Extremely sensitive to light which tends to make them skittish
   Will not think twice to give you the dreaded “Threat Posture” and attack if it feels     threatened/stressed
    Expensive and more difficult to acquire in colder countries
